Preliminary integrated geologic map databases for the United States: Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Methodology. Detailed report of standardization procedures. GIS style files. Methods used to create several styles for lithology or geologic time. This geographic information system (GIS) data set shows the extent of outcropping bedrock materials in northern and central New Jersey exclusive of the Coastal Plain. Two units are used: one showing where surficial materials are generally absent and bedrock outcrop is extensive and one showing where surficial materials are generally less than ten feet thick and bedrock outcrop is scattered.

This record is maintained in the National Geologic Map Database (NGMDB). The NGMDB is a Congressionally mandated national archive of geoscience maps, reports, and stratigraphic information, developed according to standards defined by the cooperators, i.e., the USGS and the Association of American State Geologists (AASG).
